Farley Mowatt

Sunday April 13/08.....watched the Farley Mowatt being towed into Sydney Harbour this am around 11-11:30....she certainly doesn't look very sea worthy....painted black.....the harbour was dead calm.....

She was towed into Sydport in Sydney......

I seem to recall another of Watson's ships being towed in one time long ago....seems she sank at the dock....a bomb was attached to the bottom of that ship.....

I wonder if anything will happen to this one.....have to wait and see I guess....

I got many pics of the operation taking place as she was slowly towed on a very calm day, hopefully to her final resting site.

I believe the fisheries minister Herne, acted properly in seizing the ship that was has been accused of breaking many laws regarding the seal hunt....I do not believe that it is an act of declaring war on the Neatherlands....remember the Neatherlands was liberated by Canadian Forces during WW2.....I guess one , like Watson, could also say that when the ship broke the laws in Canadian waters then the captain in turn declared war on Canada, and that is not likely to ever happen...

Anyhow I am glad I was able to witness this piece of history this morning. Glad i was there....

I noticed on the CTV News last evening, the 12th, that whenever they showed one of the sealing boats coming up to an ice clamper and the crew member would jump off onto the ice to get the seal, that the seal was dead....the hunter didn't have to do any clubbing....the seal had been shot....every pic they showed, the seal had been shot....and they were never the seal pups....

I'm a Newfoundlander living in Cape Breton...otherwise known as a Cape Breton Newfoundlander.....my parent and grand-parents and before them were Newfies who to today would love to have a scoff of flippers.

I support the seal hunt and don't consider myself top be a barbarian...

There was or is a song from the Rise and Follies of Cape Breton called, The Cape Breton Barbarian---- the hairy scary one....
we aren't that bad....but don't test us. or piss us off....
